All Souls Community Harvest Festival History
All Souls Catholic Church Community Harvest Festival began in 2009. The festival has been the first weekend in November (around All Souls Day), since its inception. The initial 2009 festival offered food and midway rides, bingo and other games of chance.Father Richard Trout, then pastor of All Souls Catholic Church, was its biggest supporter as the church had sponsored a smaller festival during the 1990’s in the social hall parking lot. It was hoped that reviving the Festival would enhance the sense of community after the new church was built west of the city, along SR 46.
Mission
Today, the mission of the All Souls Catholic Church "Community Family Fest" is to build community by bringing families together to enjoy safe and affordable fun activities regardless of family size, ages, or ethnicity.The All Souls Catholic Church "Community Family Fest" has traditionally been the largest non-city-sponsored event held in Sanford, Florida.
Significant Milestones
- 2010 Changed the name to All Souls Catholic Church Community Harvest Festival
- 2010 Added the TV/Beer Tent featuring sports on big screen TV
- 2010 Added the Silent Auction to the Raffle Basket booth
- 2010 Added Mexican Booth
- 2012 Added Wine-based specialty drinks
- 2013 Added the S’mores Booth (eliminated in 2016)
- 2014 Added Dinner with Pastor (eliminated in 2015)
- 2015 Added Family Sponsorships
- 2015 Added Golf Challenge
- 2015 Added gently-used costume jewelry to Crafts Boutique
- 2018 Added fish fry
- 2019 Added Cornhole Tournament
- 2020 Virtual Festival with Festival Food Drive-thru
- 2021 Changed name to "Community Family Fest" and added Car Show
