Resources: Funeral Pre-Planning
Why Pre-Plan a Funeral?
One of the greatest gifts you can give your family is taking the time to pre-plan, providing peace of mind with a clear understanding of your wishes before your death. We plan for all the important moments of our lives: marriage, buying a home, retirement… planning your Catholic funeral and burial is no different. Pre-arrangement is simply the way we should plan for the last important matter — the day that will represent our legacy to those we leave behind.
Making funeral and cemetery arrangements in advance is a loving and financially wise decision. While it may feel overwhelming, we’ve made pre-planning easy to understand. Let us answer your questions and help walk you through each step. Pre-planning, especially with All Souls, makes sense, and here’s why:
An Act of Kindness
It’s an act of kindness — of prudent generosity — if we can face these difficult decisions now and settle them simply. This reassurance, comfort and peace of mind help diminish the stress of decisions made in grief and provides for a true and lasting gift to loved ones left behind. Pre-planning also saves money. By making decisions today, you are able to lock in prices.
Peace of Mind
The death of a loved one comes with many difficult tasks for grieving family members. They face a long list of choices that require immediate attention. They have to make hard decisions when they are also experiencing overwhelming sadness. Advance planning can prevent tension and disagreements among family members who are forced to decide what you would have wanted. With pre-planning, you’ll know that when the time comes, family members will find comfort in having the details decided in advance.
An Opportunity To Express Your Wishes
Pre-planning allows you to consider the many options available and to make informed decisions that are meaningful to both you and your family. Arranging your funeral and final resting place involves details that are unique to every individual. What readings do you want read at your funeral mass? Do you want a traditional burial, or do you prefer cremation? Do you want to start a family estate, or be buried with your spouse? Do prefer to be interred, inurned, or entombed? We’re here to help make these decisions as simple as possible.
It's Simple
Pre-planning involves just three steps:
At All Souls, we are here to help you through these steps. Get started here.
A Cherished Catholic Tradition
Catholic funeral rites are a rich part of Catholic Tradition and offer many benefits for those who have passed as well as for their loved ones. There are three rites that are part of the funeral tradition and they take place in stages and proceed in hope. At the Vigil Service (usually at the mortuary), prayers are offered for the dead and for the consolation of the grieving. At the Funeral Liturgy (the Mass), the living offer God worship for the sake of the deceased. The Rite of Committal is the farewell act of loving care for the body of the deceased.
All Souls Cemetery Is Your Provider of a Resting Place On Holy Ground
A Catholic cemetery is truly different than any other cemetery. The Catholic Church considers its cemeteries to be holy ground, because they hold the mortal remains of God’s children. We are made in God’s image, and we have been redeemed by Jesus. The Church honors a cemetery because of the special dignity God has given his children. All Souls Cemetery is one of only a few Catholic cemeteries in Central Florida. (Refer to the All Souls Cemetery section for more information.)
Care That Goes Beyond
The care received by patrons of All Souls Cemetery goes beyond care of the grounds. As Catholics, the Church prays daily for the souls of the departed, and special masses are held to pray for those that have gone before us. Providing Catholics with the funeral rite and a burial place is a ministry of ours and a work of mercy.
