The Sacrament of First Holy CommunionFirst Holy Communion is a joyful and sacred milestone in a Catholic’s faith journey. It is the first time a baptized Catholic receives the Eucharist, the true Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, deepening their relationship with Him and the Church.
Children typically receive their First Communion around the age of reason (about seven years old) after proper preparation, which includes learning about the Eucharist, participating in First Reconciliation (Confession), and growing in their understanding of the Catholic faith. Adults entering the Church through OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults) also receive First Communion after their preparation..
